Stairway To Heaven

Distance from Laie:20 Miles (32.2 km)
Avg. Time to do activity:   3 Hours

Staiway to heaven, also known as Haiku Stairs, is a metal staircase that extends from the ridge base to the top of the ridge near H3 in Kaneohe. There are about 4000 steps that climb to an elevation of 2700 feet. The residents in the area where the trail starts really hate having hikers in the area so the Hope Chapel was designated as the parking lot and starting point for the trail. Though it's far from the start of the staircase (as seen in photo below) it's pretty easy to reach the stairs once you can get on the little paved trail. Unfortunately the trail is currently closed and security officers are often stationed at the trail head to stop hikers.

Below is the route I have used in the past to access the staircase.
