Falls, Malaekahana

Distance from Laie:0 Miles (0 km)
Avg. Time to do activity:   3.5 Hours

Malaekahana Falls, like Laie Falls, is a trail easy to access and a common hike for BYUH students. As with most trails and activites, it's a good idea to go with someone who has done it before and knows trails and turn-offs a bit. Either way here are some directions and advice that might be useful. To get to the trail follow the instructions to the Laie Falls Trail head but continue up the road instead of taking the path at the Laie Trails Sign. The road will lead along a field and come near a gate and a few fence posts (photo at left). Take a right there and follow the trail from there on out. Use the image below to get an idea of the direction of the trail and layout of the fields.
Total hiking distance is 3 Miles (one way) with an elevation gain of 1,200 feet. When you reach the riverbed you will find the waterfall a short ways up stream. If you head down stream the trail leads to a a short waterfall and pool deep enough to jump into.
